Lots of Biking, Lots of Talking, Lots of Fun,

Fears of a Boggart

A couple of weeks ago Derry and I were watching Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban. It came to the part where the students get to experiment with a Boggart. For those of you who do not know, a Boggart is a shape shifter. It turns into your greatest fear. The way to get rid of it is to say "Ridiculous" and to think of something funny.

Well as we were watching it, a girl steps up and the Boggart changes to a Giant Snake. If you know Derry, you know he hates snakes and clowns. The girl waves her wand and says, "Ridiculous" and immediately the Boggart turns into a clown. Derry's response..."Oh my gosh, that's awful! Why would they do that?" It still makes me laugh.

I love Derry for many reasons. One, he keeps me laughing.

Here is the video. Fast Forward it to about a minute left to get to the part I was talking about.

I Got A New Do!

I finally got all of my hairs cut! I've been waiting for my beautician, Jody, do get back from maternity leave. I think I like it!

CLASSIC!

I had a classic moment today. I must say this particular thing has never happened to me before. I'm glad to be a part of the cult.

So today at work, Kristy Mikel (who has a hilarious post about a freakish accident on her blog) and I had some lamination to cut out. I grabbed my scissors, some lamination and sat on the couch. Just then I heard & felt the strangest thing, a ripping noise. I gasped and had a look of horror on my face.

Hearing this, Kristy stopped what she was doing turned to me and said in confusion and worry, "What was that, did the couch break?"

My response, still in shock, "No my pants did!"

"What? How?" said Kristy

"I just sat down and then rip." At that very moment a reminiscing of just a few minutes earlier...more tearing.

I decided to just remain on the couch until everything was cut out. BAD IDEA! By the end of the time, the whole ripped all the way up to my belt loop.

Needless to say, we've been laughing about this. Join us, here are some classic pics.

What I wore for a bit until I went to this:
Notice the Leopard Shoes...Nice touch I must say!

Look at this hole...It's huge!

Poor Barnabas...

Barnabas, our 8 year old Black Lab had an unfortunate visit to the vet today. Let's say he wasn't too thrilled.

The visit started off fine. Very inquisitive with all the new sights, smells and people. He was everywhere. He made me laugh really.

Then, the pain started in. The workers had to hold him down while blood was drawn and was "violated". Finally he received a shot.

That poor guy, what a trooper.

Barnabas' positive responses from his be outing:

1. I made 2 new friends. I especially like the woman. She kept telling me I was "alright". yeah, that's right, I'm outta sight!

2. I got two yummy dog treats. Chicken flavored. Yeah I digged them. I was only supposed to get one, but once it hits the hand, it's fair game!

3. despite the violation, I must admit, I am ok being disease free.

4. I totally made my mom feel bad. I guilted her into taking me on a walk. I know how to work it!

Way to Go Buddy!!

50 MILES COME & GONE!

This morning I left at 9:30 and headed to Kellie Fishurn's house. The Goal: to ride 50 miles.
We took off and headed toward Wakarusa, then Goshen.
We stopped at Panera Bread and I had the new sandwich...YUMMY
We then continued over to New Paris Area then to Nappanee.

Total Mileage: 51.83 miles
Total Time:
4 Hours 13 Minutes

Total Calories Burned:
2783

All I can say is:
I DID IT!

In two weeks...62 miles! Why 62 you ask? Because the furthest Kellie has gone is 60, so we're going 62 miles!

Here is a pic of Kellie and I after the ride. Unfortunately Kellie's eyes are closed. She does have pretty eyes, sorry you don't get to see them!

YEAH!!

Video # 2

At the beginning, this reminds me a lot of Redeemer. But it's different. This is perfect for teens wrestling with decisions and choosing to follow God or this world. It's pretty powerful! It reminds me why I work with teens. To help them navigate this thing called life.

A Beautiful Video

Christy Brink emailed me this video. The pictures are breathtaking. Hope you enjoy!

50 Miles coming up!

So it was my goal that by the end of the summer I was going to ride 50 miles in one day. As most of you know, a couple of weeks ago Kellie Fishburn and I went for a 40 miler. Well, this Friday is the BIG 50! I cannot wait! Her husband Brad has a route picked out for us. Right now the destination is unknown. I'm so excited! Below you will see a pic of me biking last summer at the cottage. (Photo taken by none other than the great Derry Prenkert...nice capture DMan!)

A Day with the 'Rents

Saturday Derry and I went to Fort Wayne and spent some time with my parents. We hadn't seen them in a while. We had lots of fun! Of course we had to make a stop at Coldstone.
