Preparing

As I get ready to leave for India, so many emotions run through my mind, heart, and body. Anxiety, fear, excitement and so many more.

As of Friday, I had nothing planned for my speaking. It wasn't as if I had procrastinated, I just never had the time to prepare. So of course on Friday I had a meltdown.
  • I was getting ready for a weekend retreat,
  • teaching youth class on Sunday,
  • Beginning small groups on Sunday night
  • and leaving Wednesday AM for India.

When was I going to prepare? I need to pack,

  • clean
  • do laundry
  • mow the lawn
  • take the car in
  • and all of those other pre-trip things.

So, I freaked out. I took some time away from the retreat on Saturday and had a sit down with God. The following is my journal entry.

"God, I ask for clarity on what to speak about in India. I give this talk to you and I pray you will calm me. Give me a fresh perspective. I trust in you for the plans which lay ahead. GUIDE ME. I trust you implicityly. I know your words are perfect. I know you will teach me as you taught Moses. He was slow of speech and had problems communicating much like I do. You understand that I struggle getting the thoughts in my brain to formulate words and come out of my mouth. You know I often get frustrated and confused. But unlike Moses, I will take your challenge. I will speak on your behalf. I will trust that you will fill in the gaps where I lack. I trust you will speak Bengali ro Hindi or a tribal language on my behalf. I trust you will calm this anxious heart. You WILL guid me. Yet again, I TRUST! ~Love your prized posession, Janelle"

Afterwards, I felt more relaxed and God said, "just take it one step at a time". It was absolutely amazing, as soon as I finished one point, the next one was right there. Each day flowed into the next. I think God just wanted me to relax, breathe and say, "ok I need you". He often does that.

So. God is good. People are great (thanks for praying). Off we go!

Hey?

Have you ever noticed when someone wants you to do something they usually start with, Hey? Now when you read this you need to make "ey"go up.

I noticed this over the past couple of years. Many times when one of the guys at work need something accomplished, they usually start with "Hey?". It's pretty funny.

So I started to listen to myself...I DO THE SAME THING.

Think about it. Keep this in the back of your mind and see if i'm right. It's quite humorous.

10 years come and gone

Saturday Night Derry and I went to Fort Wayne for my 10 year class reunion. I was so freaked out to go. You know all of those insecurities in high school come back. It was very interesting. I had tons of fun. It was kinda nice to hang out with a bunch of people who are my age for a change. My life is so consumed with ministry, that I very seldom get to hang out with people my own age. It was refreshing.

On the way there, I was telling Derry the list of people I hope to be there. Everyone I mentioned was there.

Megan--Now lives in NYC working as a realtor.
Baker--Now lives in North Carolina working with the Tar Heels (her favorite team of all time)
Missy--Now lives in Bluffton. She is a full time mom of 3 kids.
Corkhead--Still lives in Fort Wayne and stays at home with her little girl.
Amy K-- Still lives in Fort Wayne, staying at home with her 2 kids and one on the way.
Jen-- Lives in Indy and I just can't remember what she does.
Jacki--Lives in Chicago working in a high school
Many more at various places doing a numerous things.

Great time, Great laughter and reminiscing

ouchie wawa!

This AM I went to the doctor to get the warts on my feet taken off. I've had them for at least 2 years. I finally broke down to get them taken off. All I can say is OUCH! I'm currently walking around my tip toes. It's kinda funny to watch.

FLARP

This is the most amazing thing. It is so addicting. It is the goo stuff you push it in it's container. Well it sounds like a fart. Last night Derry, Dan & Katie and I laughed for about 1-2 hours with it.

I gave it to my Grandma today for her 80th birthday. Her and my grandpa laughed.

Get it at Walmart for for88 cents
